Stray Stars are currently the only way to receive skill/talent points to use within the Talent Tree. They are scattered across the map, requiring the players to reach further into runs to be able to collect all of them. At the moment, there are a total of 11 stars to collect, with 3 being locked exclusively to the ruin mechanic which requires players to beat increasingly more difficult runs to reach.
As a note, there is no strict order to which you need to collect first. They are numbered simply for ease of conversation.
Stray Star 1[]
The first star is available after defeating the Undying Champion, and handing in the Beginning of the End. After handing in the prophecy, start a new run and you'll see the star near the top of the stairs, immediately following the Undying Champion arena.
Stray Star 2[]
The second star is immediately visible upon starting a run, on top of a corpse dangling over the edge of the rooftops. To reach this Star, you will need to either defeat Matron Amara and exit her arena to the left, or take the long route down at the base of the Forsaken Settlement, and climb the winding stairs to the very left. At the top of the stairs, you will find some scaffolding that you can follow, which will lead you across multiple rooftops before reaching this star. Be very careful, you will need to drop down to the platform with the star on. If you go too fast, you may overshoot the platform and take a large amount of damage.
Stray Star 3[]
The third star is accessible by an elevator at the base of the Forsaken Settlement, next to the Sanctora Drawbridge. Simply ride the elevator up and follow the bridge. You will find the star at the end of the bridge, as well as a Lever to open the locked gate, allowing easier access to the bottom of the settlement.
Stray Star 4[]
The fourth star is on the building overlooking the Estate Gatehouse. To reach this star, you will need to defeat Matron Amara and take the route to the right. Navigate across the short bridges and rooftops until you reach the star.
Stray Star 5[]
The fifth star is in the entrance to the gutters. As you enter from the base of the settlement, its underneath the waterfall at the end of the first corridor, guarded by a few rats. It can be difficult to see up close due to the camera angle, but you'll see it from a distance.
Stray Star 6[]
The sixth star is in the gutters. You'll see it after exiting the Plagued Rat Horror's boss room, locked away behind a grate. You can access the star from the other side, after traversing the gutters a little more and unlocking the passages through the use of various levers.
Stray Star 7[]
The seventh star can be found in the Astromancer's observatory, on the floor directly above the vendor. This star will only spawn after you have completed the "Eye for an Eye" and "Stars Below" prophecies, and unlocked Sethian, the Astromancer. Once you unlock the character, you can either return here on your next run, or exit out of the game and continue. It will spawn immediately upon doing so.
Stray Star 8[]
The eighth star can be found after defeating Istwan, with the Church of the Holy Mother. Rather than go left after Istwan, up the stairs, go to the right through the small archway. here you'll find the star, and one of the braziers required to reveal bridges
Stray Star 9[]
Requirement: You must be playing on Level 1 of Ruin.
With Level 1 Ruin enabled, go to the wall of the Estate and find the small gap that drops you back down into the settlement. Carefully drop onto the rooftops below the gap and head south. You'll find the Star sitting on the roofstop.
Stray Star 10[]
Requirement: You must be playing on Level 3 of Ruin.
With Level 3 Ruin enabled, this star can be found on the 2nd floor of the large Academy hall, to the left of the gardens.
Stray Star 11[]
Requirement: You must be playing on Level 5 of Ruin.
With Level 5 Ruin enabled, you need to go to the left of the Estate gatehouse, on top of the wall. This is past the brazier. The star can be found in front of the fence to the academy.
